If It Looks Like a Duck

We have been GFCF for 16 days now. With the exception of the occasional slip ups, which have happened, we have been following the diet very strictly. I am so proud of the Kilmer Kids. They have adjusted very well to being GFCF.

McKenzie has shown immediate improvement with her stomach issues. She always complains that her stomach hurts, and I won't disqust you, or embarrass her, with the celiac symptoms that she has. And I love my Little Lu, but if she has any reason to complain about any health related issues, she will. She always complains of her stomach hurting. I noticed last week that she is not complaining at all now. She goes to bed without problems, when, before our GFCF days, every night she would tell me that she was hurting. She is also in a great mood, too.

McKenzie was tested for celiac disease when she was 3. Her panel was normal, and so celiac was ruled out. She tolerated a gluten free diet well when she was 5, but after the move here we went back to our old ways of eating. Soon her tummy problems returned.

The saying "If it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, then it's a duck." has always struck me as being a little flippant, but mostly confident, and maybe slightly arrogant. But I will use it here with this situation. Even though her celiac panel was normal, McKenzie has many signs of gluten intolerance. She feels better being GFCF. So....quack quack. I guess we have a sweet, special reason to remain GF now.
